As set for the 24/25 Competition

Please note NEW FOR 24/25 - Dancers may select a variation from the category directly above theirs should their teacher feel they are ready.

Contestants will present a ‘ Set Variation’ chosen from the professional classical repertoire list below any well known version of these variation are acceptable. Any minor changes are permitted to suit candidate’s capabilities. (choose one):

Pre Vocational: Year 5,6 and 7 at time of competition (no pointe shoes please.  Solos adapted to the dancers ability)

Criteria

Pre Vocational

Year 5 and 7 at time of competition:

A strong foundation understanding of posture, base level technique in order to safely perform and aspirations to train as a classical dancer. No pointe work will be demonstrated.

Vocational 1

Year 8 and 9 at time of competition:

Deeper understanding of technical elements including strong demipointe work, correct placement and aspirations to train as a classical dancer. Pointe work only at your teachers discretion, dancers will be judged on vocational technical application and performance and being on or off pointe will not affect the judging of this age group.

Vocational 2

Year 10 and 11 at time of competition:

An age appropriate vocational understanding of technical expectations such as placement, correct use of ports de bras, safe execution of allegro and virtuosity elements. All female identifying contestants to present solos en pointe where possible. Please let us know of any injuries preventing this.

Pre Professional

Year 12 and above at time of competition (Age not to exceed 19 years, 3rd year/ 6th form upper school at the time of competition):

An age appropriate level of vocational application in all areas. All female identifying contestants to present solos en pointe where possible. Please let us know of any injuries preventing this.
